It has been hinted by Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunications, Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui that Pakistan can introduce 5G services by 2019. He said that once the 5G technology is launched in Pakistan it will attract foreign investment and boost the economy of the country.
In Pakistan 3G and 4G, the mobile data network is widely used and its users keep on increasing.
Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui in a discussion with APP said, “We need to introduce more innovative services in the mobile broadband arena not only to facilitate the consumers but also to attract precious foreign investment and meet modern requirements.”
At the occasion Brig (r) Viqar Rashid Khan the Managing Director NTC and other officials were present.
Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui in reply to a question said, “The world is changing very swiftly and to compete with other nations we need to adopt new technologies.”
He was hopeful that the IT sector will grow and foreign companies will invest & approach Pakistan to launch 5G service.
He asked about the priorities of the new government to which he said, “We will take with all good initiatives taken by previous regimes while shortcomings would also be addressed. Our basic objective is to produce results which should be beneficial both for players and consumers. We would start the new projects that were supposed to be initiated by the previous governments.”
